Work themes

Co-produce

Leads

Description

Co-designing health interventions, using theories from behavioural and social science, and real-world evidence. We use our Agile Co-production and Evaluation (ACE) framework to develop new public health programmes and messages with input from under-served communities.

Optimise

Leads

Description

Improving public health interventions and evaluating how they are implemented. We do this by addressing unintended negative effects that could increase health inequalities and developing additional interventions for under-served communities.

Vaccinate

Leads

Description

Finding and piloting the best ways to increase vaccine uptake, especially in under-vaccinated groups. We use behavioural science, evidence synthesis, clinical epidemiology and economic modelling to achieve this.

Evaluate

Leads

Description

Evaluating diagnostic tests, synthesising evidence and supporting natural and clinical trials – both randomised and observational. We use new statistical methods to evaluate health protection programmes and diagnostic and screening tests for infectious diseases, being considered for use in the NHS.

Eliminate

Leads

Description

Using infectious disease and economic modelling to study how to eliminate infections as public health threats. We focus on diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B, and work with other teams to develop better strategies for case-finding and improving healthcare for migrant populations.
