Developing an approach for public input in UKHSA’s rapid review process

Ongoing
This project brings together experts from the Co-produce and Optimise themes in the Health Protection Research Unit in Evaluation and Behavioural Science (HPRU EBS), the HPRU EBS Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) team, and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Guidance team

The Guidance Team at UKHSA is responsible for developing and updating official guidance for the public and professionals. They ensure this guidance is based on the best available evidence and is kept up-to-date, including during health incidents and emergencies.

The aim is to test a new approach: creating a small group of public contributors who meet regularly to help shape health guidance from UKHSA. This group will also be able to give quick feedback during emergencies, such as disease outbreaks, to support fast decision-making.

The project will assess how well this approach works, using feedback from both the public and professionals involved.

Project aims
