Six months into our exciting new chapter of funding, we’re thrilled to unveil a fresh, accessible, and user-friendly website for the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Evaluation and Behavioural Science at the University of Bristol!
What’s new about our website?
Our new website is streamlined, inclusive and has been designed with accessibility in mind. It makes it easier for everyone to explore our work, get involved and stay informed. Whether you’re a researcher, policymaker, patient or member of the public, there’s something here for you.
We have an overview page of our 5 work themes, new project pages that provide a summary of some of our current key research as well as information on how we enhance our research with five cross-cutting themes.

Our recent research highlights
- New study finds that US funding cuts for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis could substantially increase HIV infections in sub-Saharan Africa. The study led by researchers at the University of Bristol and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine has found that proposed U.S. funding cuts to HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) programs could lead to a substantial rise in new HIV infections across sub-Saharan Africa.
- How public involvement is shaping migrant health research priorities in the UK. The initiative ensures that the voices of migrants are central to developing more inclusive and effective health policies.
